Next Sunday will be Rev. Marion’s last day as Pastor of Christian Heights. I have copied a statement she wrote earlier.

Sunday, August 14, 2011, will be Rev. Marion’s last Sunday at Christian Heights UMC. On August 15th, she will begin serving as the new Executive Director of Sanctuary, Inc, a domestic violence shelter located in Hopkinsville, Ky. CHUMC welcomes Dr. Glen Sowards who will serve as the Interim Pastor.

Cancer Free

Mary Busch is the wife of former pastor Rev. Larry Busch. She received good news recently after taking a biopsy. She will be leaving the hospital cancer free.

Margie Glass

Margie Glass passed away today. She was a central figure in the life and affairs of Christian Heights. The photo below catches Margie managing the cash box in 2008 during that year’s basement sale.

Funeral arrangements at the Kentucky New Era.

A native of Trigg County, she was born Aug. 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Joseph Rogers Carr and Claryce Joiner Carr.

She was retired from civil service as a secretary at Fort Campbell.

She was a member of Christian Heights United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Glass.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Irvin, Murfreesboro; two stepsons, James Glass, Hilton Head Island, S.C., and William Glass Jr., Madisonville; one brother, Joe Carr, Herndon; two sisters, Carolyn McDaniel, Moscow, Ind., and Rosalyn Smith, Hopkinsville, and two grandchildren.

Lou’s Performance at the Mall

Children from Lou’s Academy and Training center performed at Bradford Square Mall while Christmas shoppers watched. WKAG captured some video of the show. Skip to 3:20 if you don’t wish to watch the whole thing.

Give Blood, Give Life

The WKRBC just held it’s “Pump up the Volume” blood drive. The local radio station was there and taking pictures. Within WKDZ’s photo gallery I found two church members that gave blood. Brenda Birdsong is pictured first. Donald Brake pictured second. Thanks to WKDZ for the use of their images.
